How to secure doors from burglars
Burglars are a real threat to homes and businesses. They can enter into your personal space without your knowledge, steal what they want, and leave without anyone knowing until it’s too late. In the worst scenario, someone could get hurt or injured. To prevent this from happening, you need to make sure that your doors are secure. Here are some tips:
Use added door reinforcements
A lot of burglars will pick a lock if they can, so it’s important to add a layer of security by reinforcing the doors. There are many different products that can be used to do this, including a door brace, wedge or stop.
However, the most effective way to secure your doors is by installing a deadbolt. This will make it much more difficult for a burglar to open the door from the outside and it can be used in conjunction with other products for an even stronger layer of protection.
Install a door barricade
To block your door from the inside, you can use a steel bar or even a piece of wood. Place them on the ground next to your door or wedge them between the door and the jamb. If you have a steel bar, loop it through one of your doorknobs and hold it in place with an additional lock. The bar should be sturdy enough that burglars cannot easily knock it down.
To prevent burglars from entering through other parts of your home while you are asleep or away, install door stops on all interior doors in your house. This way, if someone enters through a window, they will find their path into other rooms blocked.
Install a door that opens outwards rather than inwards
Installing an outward-opening door is another great step in securing your home. Outward-opening doors are not only more secure than inward-opening doors, but they can also be more visually pleasing.
In many cases, these kinds of doors are used for entrances, which means burglars will have a much harder time breaking through them without making too much noise or being seen by neighbours. In addition, outward-opening doors have a higher security rating than inward-opening doors because they are harder to kick in. They also prevent criminals from using battering rams against them when attempting break-ins. This is because there is less surface area available for them to attack with their tools.
Get new locks
One of the best ways to secure your doors is to have new locks installed. This can be a hassle, but it is worth it if you want to protect your home and family.
First, make sure that you’re using a double-cylinder deadbolt locking system. A single-cylinder lock might only require one key, so this makes it easier for burglars to break into your house by picking the lock or forcing their way through the door frame with crowbars or other tools.
You should also make sure that your new locks are made from high-quality materials that can stand up against wear and tear. At Lockout 24/7, we can easily provide you with quick and modern lock replacements that are more resistant to burglars, so you can be sure that your home is protected, even when you are away.
